Alterdot (ADOT)

Alterdot (ADOT) is a decentralized web platform that aims to create a new internet built for people and by people. It is powered by the blockchain and IPFS technologies, which enable a peer-to-peer nature that contrasts with the current centralized web. Alterdot believes in everyone’s right to have an affordable internet identity resistant to censorship. Alterdot has developed Blockchain DNS (BDNS), a domain name system built on Alterdot’s decentralized ledger to achieve this. This system allows users to register domain names on the blockchain, pointing to any content they prefer, whether an Alterdot or Bitcoin address, an IPFS content identifier, an IP, or a simple message. Alterdot also plans to develop an ecosystem of tools and applications to expand the decentralized web, inviting users to join it.

Alterdot offers several key features to its users. It utilizes a CPU and GPU Proof-of-Work hashing algorithm called Argon2d16000, which is ASIC-free and favors CPU miners. The network is reinforced by a system of Masternodes, which sustain services like InstantSend and will be expanded to include website hosting through the IPFS. InstantSend allows for fast transaction processing, and the Masternode network supports mixing or CoinJoin. One of the main features of Alterdot is the ability to register domain names on the blockchain, providing an affordable solution for users. Alterdot offers a browser extension that facilitates blockchain domain name resolution and limited wallet functionality. All of the code is open source, and Alterdot maintains an Open Development policy, welcoming contributions from the community.

Alterdot has a vision for the future of the internet, striving for complete decentralization and a freer internet. The project has made significant progress, including upgrading its codebase, introducing the BlockchainDNS system, and implementing Deterministic Masternodes. The team plans to continue developing the ecosystem by introducing Alternodes, creating a search engine for blockchain domain names, implementing content filtering, and launching new desktop wallets. They also aim to create an all-in-one application fully integrated with Alterdot and IPFS nodes and customizable website templates for decentralized websites.
