MIScoin (MIS)

MIScoin (MIS) was a cryptocurrency launched on March 2, 2015, during a period of widespread altcoin experimentation. Built as a fork of the Dash codebase, it implemented the X11 algorithm — a chain of 11 cryptographic hash functions — for its proof-of-work mining phase. The coin operated on its own dedicated blockchain and had no publicly stated use case beyond functioning as a general-purpose digital currency. No founding team or organization was publicly identified with the project.

MIScoin used a hybrid consensus model combining proof-of-work and proof-of-stake. The proof-of-work phase ran through approximately 15,000 blocks before the network transitioned to proof-of-stake with an annual staking interest rate of 5%. Block times were set at 60 seconds, with difficulty retargeting every 10 blocks. The total maximum supply was capped at 25,000,000 MIS, with a 1% premine of 250,000 MIS reserved for development bounties. Proof-of-work block rewards followed a stepped schedule, peaking at 450 MIS per block before gradually reducing across seven reward phases.

MIScoin became inactive within a year of launch. The GitHub repository under the miscoinproject organization last recorded a commit in December 2015 (wallet v1.1.0.0), and a brief rebranding attempt in early 2016 produced no further activity. The official website (miscoin.org) and block explorer (explorer.miscoin.org) are both offline. The project has no active exchange listings, no surviving community presence, and is considered abandoned.
