coreDAO (COREDAO) is a decentralized autonomous organization that aims to provide a privacy-preserving ENS gateway for resolving Ethereum Name Service (ENS) records and associated IPFS/IPNS/Skynet content. Users and dApp developers can effortlessly access and host static sites built using a combination of IPFS/IPNS/Skynet and ENS. The project operates as a reliable and secure public good, addressing issues such as centralization, single points of failure, censorship, and the lack of non-commercial infrastructure. It strives to promote the principles of a decentralized, open, and free internet.
LIMO, the infrastructure behind coreDAO, offers an alternative means of accessing ENS names and IPFS content. It acts as a reverse proxy, dynamically capturing requests for all ENS domains using a wildcard DNS record. By resolving the IPFS/IPNS/Skynet contenthash of the requested ENS record, LIMO returns the corresponding static content over HTTPS. With native resolution capabilities missing from most browsers, ETH.LIMO serves as a bridge between the traditional internet and the decentralized web. Zero-configuration is required to access or host a site on ETH.LIMO, making it a cost-effective solution for Web 2.0 access to projects.
coreDAO and ETH.LIMO prioritize security and privacy. The project enforces strong origin isolation policies by default, ensuring the protection of resources. All projects accessed through ETH.LIMO receive security-hardened browser headers, and client data is encrypted with the latest TLS ciphersuites. Moreover, coreDAO anonymizes all log data, eliminating the identification of individual users. By actively involving application owners in the roadmap, coreDAO seeks to enhance the resilience of dApps and facilitate the transition from Web 2.0 to Web 3.0 in the decentralized web ecosystem.
