Karaganda Token (KRG) is a cryptocurrency that aims to promote privacy and security in society. The organization behind the token engages the community through workshops and talks about privacy and security, empowering individuals to defend their privacy rights. They produce tools, techniques, and informative websites to help citizens navigate a privacy-enhanced environment. Their projects include a website designed to assist investigative journalists in protecting their information sources and an informative website for the general public in Australia to reclaim unfiltered internet access.

One of Karaganda Token’s key initiatives is the CryptoAUSTRALIA Digital Self-Defence & Privacy events, which provide practical information on tools, processes, and policies for individuals new to privacy concepts. These events feature speakers addressing the latest information security and privacy challenges, followed by engaging Q&A sessions. Karaganda Token also supports the Privacy for Journalists website, which offers diverse encryption and security tools catered to investigative journalists. In addition, they provide UnblockOz, an informative website that offers tips and tricks for selecting safe, secure, and privacy-respecting DNS and VPN services, helping the general public in Australia reclaim their unrestricted internet access.

Karaganda Token comprises a dedicated team, including the President, Gabor Szathmari, who advocates passionately for privacy, open government, and free speech. Gabor helps organizations with their information security challenges in their professional lives. The team also includes Nick Kavadias, the Treasurer, who has worked in various technology-based sectors and aspires to bridge the gap between law and technology. Aiza Kamar, the Secretary, is an experienced SCADA professional, while Edward Yuwono is the Director of Strategy, providing practical approaches for defending organizations. Roland Wen, the Event Coordinator, is a Visiting Fellow at UNSW and is passionate about privacy, security, cryptography, and elections. Karaganda Token’s team is further strengthened by volunteers such as Karissa Breen, a creative individual with a focus on advocating for cybersecurity, and Takahiro Nei, a serial entrepreneur and Director of Fundraising Strategy.
