Neetcoin (NEET)

Neetcoin (NEET) is a cryptocurrency project created in December 2017 to support individuals not in education, employment, or training. The acronym NEET stands for “Not in Education, Employment, or Training,” referring to those not pursuing any education, employment, or vocational training. Neetcoin seeks to improve the circumstances of these individuals. In today’s rapidly advancing technological landscape, the development of AI and IT systems is predicted to result in increased unemployment and challenging working conditions, leading to a rise in individuals who cannot find employment due to physical and mental health issues. Neetcoin aims to provide a foundation for supporting individuals facing such circumstances and difficulty finding jobs.

Neetcoin’s purpose extends beyond simply supporting NEET individuals. It also aims to assist them in transitioning to new environments. In 2020, an NPO organization was established along with the project, strengthening the significance of helping NEET individuals with support and the opportunity to start anew. Neetcoin’s native chain was operational from December 2017 to June 2023, after which it swapped to NTT (Neetcoin Token) on the Polygon chain in May 2023. The project’s website offers detailed information about Neetcoin, including node information, frequently asked questions (FAQs), and resources for downloading wallet software. Additionally, the website encompasses a community section to foster interaction among participants.

The Neetcoin project features various characters, including Sepia Niito, who was chosen as the adorable idol character for Neetcoin through the Neetcoin Personification Contest 2018. Sepia appears not only in the wallet software but also in character merchandise. Proceeds from the sale of these items contribute to the project’s activities, support for the NPO organization, and charitable endeavors. The character Takashi, who often appeared in the Discord community and played a role in fostering engagement, had his name chosen following discussions and community input. With various visuals and banners, Takashi represents the representative figure of the NEET community. Another character, Nieko, was a Discord bot primarily built on Ruby and later expanded to include PHP and SQL connections. While Nieko is currently on hiatus, there is a possibility of its return in the future.
