About Wrapped MistCoin
Wrapped MistCoin (WMC) is the prototype or manuscript for ERC-20, the standard for token contracts on the Ethereum blockchain. Launched in November 2015 alongside the Ethereum Mist Wallet, MistCoin was created by Fabian Vogelsteller and Alex Van de Sande, who proposed the ERC-20 standard. MistCoin serves as the origin of every ERC-20 token, with hundreds of token contracts deployed using the same code as MistCoin.
Wrapped MistCoin (WMC) was specifically created to enable seamless trading and usage of MistCoin (MC) in line with standard cryptocurrency protocols. This wrapping process aligns with the approach taken for other historical assets on Ethereum, such as CryptoPunks and CryptoKitties. WMC can be freely unwrapped and wrapped, maintaining a 1:1 ratio, by anyone at any time.
MistCoin’s tokenomics revolve around transfer and balance functions. The total supply of MistCoin is fixed at 1,000,000, with two decimal places. There are no associated taxes. As the origin of ERC-20, MistCoin has had a significant impact on the development and evolution of token contracts on the Ethereum blockchain.
