However, by appending .link to a .eth domain, EthLink enables users to obtain the relevant information. For example, a DNS A record request for mydomain.eth.link would look up the A records in ENS for mydomain.eth. EthLink allows users to access ENS-based resolution for .eth domains by setting up a DNS proxy to https://eth.link/dns-query.

In addition to domain resolution, EthDNS also handles DNSLink records, which contain pointers to content hosted on the internet, commonly in IPFS. When EthDNS is asked to serve a domain with a contenthash, it performs operations such as returning the IPFS gateway for A record requests and providing the contenthash as its field and a DNSLink reference for TXT record requests. This enables users to access IPFS content based on the information within ENS without making any system changes.
