About 0L Network
0L Network (LIBRA) is an open-source Layer 1 blockchain forked from Diem, the blockchain protocol originally developed by Meta (Facebook). It is built using the Move programming language, a resource-oriented smart contract language that prioritizes safety and formal verification. The protocol is fully community-governed with no central development team or corporate entity overseeing it. All governance decisions are made collectively by network participants, reflecting the project’s emphasis on decentralization and transparent operation. The fork preserves the technical foundation of Diem while replacing its permissioned, consortium-driven governance model with an open community structure.
The network is designed to make validator participation more accessible than typical proof-of-stake chains, where large capital stakes create barriers to entry. 0L uses a computation-based contribution model in which validators submit sequential proofs to establish continued eligibility, distributing network control without relying solely on token wealth. Consensus operates through a BFT-style protocol providing deterministic finality for transactions. The Move language enables developers to write smart contracts with resource types that prevent double-spending at the language level, a design inherited from Diem’s engineering priorities. Source code is maintained under the 0LNetworkCommunity GitHub organization, and a block explorer is available at 0l.fyi.
0L Network has a maximum supply of 100 billion LIBRA tokens, with approximately 8.3 billion in circulation. The LIBRA ticker reflects the project’s roots in the original Diem (formerly Libra) initiative, though 0L operates as an independent network with no affiliation to Meta or Diem’s previous backers. The project website at 0l.network and the @0LNetwork Twitter account remain active. 0L positions itself within the growing Move ecosystem alongside other Diem-derived blockchains, appealing to developers and participants interested in community-governed, open-source Layer 1 infrastructure.
