MoonRat (MRAT)

MoonRat (MRAT) is a BEP-20 meme token deployed on the Binance Smart Chain in 2021, with the contract still live on-chain at 0x6D949f9297A522c0f97C232CC209a67Bd7CfA471 and viewable on BscScan. The token launched during the early Binance Smart Chain meme wave with a Bitcoin-derived “to the moon” theme and a heavy supply tail of 1,000,000,000,000,000 MRAT, structured around reflection rewards and liquidity pool burns typical of SafeMoon-era token designs. Shortly after launch, the original MRAT contract was found to contain weaknesses that prompted the team to roll out a successor token, Secured MoonRat (SMRAT), and migrate community holders across; the original MRAT contract was effectively deprecated in favor of the new version.

The MRAT design used the now-familiar reflection model: every transfer triggered a small percentage fee that was redistributed pro rata to existing holders and partially burned to a liquidity pool, encouraging long-term holding by penalizing trading activity. The known vulnerabilities, combined with rapid early growth, exposed the contract to manipulation and prompted the secured migration. After the SMRAT relaunch, the project’s marketing, audits (notably the TechRate review), and community channels shifted toward the new token, leaving the original MRAT contract on-chain but functionally unsupported. The MoonRat brand continued through 2022 and 2023 on SMRAT, with NFT- and play-related side-products, before activity gradually faded alongside the rest of the early BSC meme cohort.

The original MRAT supply remains fixed at one quadrillion tokens at nine decimals, with no mint or burn activity on the contract today, and the circulating supply is effectively the full token supply held across long-dormant wallets. The official MoonRat website at moonrat.finance is offline at the time of writing; the documentation at docs.moonrat.finance is also unreachable, and trading volume on the few remaining liquidity pools that quote MRAT is negligible. Most aggregators now index only the successor token SMRAT, with MRAT itself treated as a historical artifact. Anyone evaluating the original MRAT should treat it as a defunct token from the early BSC meme cycle rather than an active project.
