Olympus (OHM)

Olympus (OHM) is a digital currency that operates on the Ethereum Name Service (ENS) and can be accessed through the EthDNS platform. EthDNS provides a way to access information in the ENS from DNS, allowing users to obtain relevant information about their domain by appending “.link” to the domain name. For example, a DNS request for “mydomain.eth.link” would retrieve the A records in ENS for “mydomain.eth”. EthDNS is operated as a DNS-over-HTTPS server and resolves both regular DNS and ENS registered domains. Its endpoint is “https://eth.link/dns-query”.

Accessing DNS information held in ENS through EthDNS is straightforward. EthDNS uses the HTTPS protocol to perform DNS resolution and can be accessed through a DNS proxy set up to point to “https://eth.link/dns-query”. This can be done using DNSCrypt-Proxy or CloudFlare. ENS also includes a contenthash field, which points to content stored on the internet, usually in IPFS. EthDNS can serve domains with contenthash, returning IPFS gateway A records and the contenthash as TXT records when requested.

EthLink, the EthDNS for .eth domains, enables direct access to other domains registered in ENS when enabled. Enabling ENS-based resolution is a simple process using EthLink and CNAME-ing the domain to “resolver.cloudflare-eth.com”. With EthLink, users can access their .eth domains and obtain IPFS content based on the information within ENS without requiring any changes to their system settings or DNS configurations. Content hashes can be managed at “https://manager.ens.domains/” and there are various libraries and CLI tools available to manage content hashes and DNS information on ENS.
