Wrapped USD (WUSD)

Wrapped USD (WUSD) is a coin that operates on the Ethereum Name Service (ENS) platform. It provides a way to access information from the ENS through DNS. EthLink is the specific implementation of EthDNS for domains with the .eth extension. Since .eth is not a registered DNS top-level domain, it is normally inaccessible from DNS. However, by appending .link to a .eth domain, users can obtain the relevant information from ENS. For example, a DNS A record request for mydomain.eth.link would look up the A records in ENS for mydomain.eth.

DNS information held in ENS can be accessed in the same way as traditional DNS. EthDNS is operated as a DNS-over-HTTPS server and uses the HTTPS protocol to perform DNS resolution. Its endpoint is https://eth.link/dns-query. It resolves regular DNS as well as ENS-registered domains. To access EthDNS through standard DNS queries, users must set up a DNS proxy called https://eth.link/dns-query. Utilizing EthDNS allows users to access ENS information without additional browser plugins or alternate DNS servers.

In ENS, a contenthash field contains a pointer to content hosted on the internet, often in IPFS. If EthDNS is requested to serve a domain with a contenthash, it will return an IPFS gateway address when asked for an A record. When asked for TXT records, EthDNS will also return the contenthash as its own field and as a DNSLink reference. This allows for easy access to IPFS content based on the information within ENS. EthLink is primarily focused on .eth domains but can enable access to other domains registered in ENS when enabled.
