Xiaomicoin (MI)

Xiaomicoin (MI), also known by its Chinese name 小米币 (“Millet Coins”), was a community-launched altcoin announced on BitcoinTalk on June 11, 2015. Despite the brand-suggestive name, the project is not affiliated with Xiaomi Inc., the smartphone manufacturer; the official site and the original announcement both carry an explicit disclaimer that Xiaomicoin shares only the domain name and has no business relationship with Xiaomi or any of its products. The coin was issued primarily for a Chinese-speaking audience and traded on early Chinese and Russian exchanges such as C-CEX and abwang.com.

Technically, Xiaomicoin is a Litecoin-style chain built on the Scrypt proof-of-work algorithm, combined with a proof-of-stake layer that pays a 1% annual dividend to stakers (decreasing over time). Block time is 60 seconds and the chain follows a hybrid PoW + PoS model with a one-minute confirmation target and a 24-hour coin-age requirement for staking. The supply schedule used a roughly 400 million MI pre-mine at launch, with PoS issuance handling the long-term emission. Current circulating, total, and maximum supply all sit at approximately 406.14 million MI.

The Xiaomicoin project is no longer actively maintained. The official website at xiaomicoin.org no longer resolves, the BitcoinTalk thread last saw substantive activity in 2019, and the GitHub repository at github.com/xiaomicoin/Xiaomicoin has not received meaningful updates. Block data is still observable through the third-party Blockexperts.com explorer, where the chain’s historical state can be inspected. As an inactive 2015-era altcoin, MI has no meaningful trading volume on major exchanges today.
