Argent

Argent is a smart contract cryptocurrency wallet developed by Argent Labs Limited, launched in 2018 as one of the first production deployments of account abstraction on Ethereum. In 2025 the company rebranded: the main mobile product is now distributed under the Ready brand at ready.co, while the Starknet browser extension previously known as Argent X has been renamed Ready X. Both products retain the same underlying smart contract wallet architecture, and the open-source contracts remain on the argentlabs GitHub organization.

The wallet uses a smart contract account rather than an externally owned account secured by a seed phrase. Each wallet is a deployed contract with configurable security policies: daily transfer limits, trusted-address allowlists, and a social recovery mechanism called Guardians. Guardians are trusted devices, hardware wallets, or other users designated by the owner: a quorum can recover access if the primary device is lost, without any of them being able to move funds unilaterally. Ready X also supports Ledger hardware accounts and on-chain multisig.

Ready (the mobile and web product) functions as a self-custodial crypto banking alternative. It offers a multi-tier Mastercard debit card (Virtual, Lite, Gold, Platinum Metal), yield-bearing accounts on Bitcoin, Ethereum, and USDC, fiat deposits in six currencies across 150 countries, and integrated swaps and DeFi routes.

Ready X (the Starknet browser extension) supports token swaps, ETH and STRK staking, perpetuals trading, NFT management, and gas-fee sponsorship on select transactions. Supported networks include Ethereum, Starknet, Arbitrum, Base, and Optimism, with ERC-20 tokens and Starknet-native assets including STRK and bridged BTC.
