What is BC VAULT?

BC Vault is a hardware cryptocurrency wallet developed by Real Security d.o.o., a Slovenian IT security firm founded in 2002 with a background in financial, telecommunications, and government infrastructure. The device stores private keys in ferroelectric RAM (FRAM), a non-volatile memory technology that retains data without a battery and is physically distinct from the flash storage used in most comparable devices. BC Vault launched its first hardware wallet around 2015 and celebrated a decade of engineering in December 2025.

The defining characteristic of BC Vault is its seedless architecture. Unlike wallets that derive all accounts from a single 24-word recovery phrase, BC Vault generates independent wallets with no master seed. Recovery is handled through encrypted backups stored on external media, meaning there is no seed phrase to expose or misplace. Each wallet on the device can have its own password and PIN, adding an extra layer of isolation between accounts.

The current product line includes the BC Vault One in several editions: a standard model, a Shadow limited edition, and aluminium-finished variants (Gunmetal and Quicksilver), plus a premium Special Gold Edition. All models support Windows, macOS, and Linux on desktop, with native ARM64 support. Android and iOS mobile apps are available, with the iOS app launching in December 2025. WalletConnect integration enables interaction with decentralized applications from the device.

BC Vault supports millions of coins and tokens, covering Bitcoin, Ethereum, a broad range of EVM-compatible chains, and NFTs. The application reached version 3.3.1 in May 2026. The company runs an ongoing public bounty challenge offering 1 BTC to anyone who can break the device’s security.
