Nostra UNO (UNO)

UNO is the first StarkNet-native stablecoin, aiming to be the stablecoin of choice within the StarkNet ecosystem. Pegged to the US Dollar, UNO is fully backed by high-quality, censorship-resistant crypto assets, with deep liquidity across multiple market pairs and a stable peg.

When ETH is deposited into the Nostra Money Market, it is converted into iETH-c to be used as collateral for minting UNO. This provides the benefit of compound interest while utilizing the UNO stablecoin.

The value of stablecoins has steadily grown since 2017. Various stablecoin designs have emerged during this time, ranging from algorithmic to fractionally collateralized models.

Current challenges for stablecoins include declining confidence in fiat-backed stablecoins, censorship risks, and loss of peg stability.

UNO aims to address these challenges through the following approaches:

• Expanding UNO’s use cases for borrowing and swapping to mitigate upward peg risks.
• Ensuring deep stablecoin liquidity, over-collateralization, and a robust liquidation mechanism with responsible parameters (e.g., caps) to reduce downward peg risks.
• Minimizing censorship risks by deploying an immutable contract, utilizing uncensorable assets, and having a non-US domiciled core contributor.

UNO is part of Nostra, a comprehensive DeFi solution where users can borrow and swap crypto assets.

By integrating Nostra Money Market, UNO, and Nostra Swap, we form the Nostra Liquidity Layer, providing permissionless access to liquid crypto assets anytime for any purpose, with minimal price impact.

The core functions of the Liquidity Layer include lending, borrowing, minting, and swapping.
