About BOScoin
BOScoin (BOS) was a South Korean cryptocurrency project developed by BlockchainOS Inc., aiming to deliver a self-evolving public blockchain optimised for what its team called “Trust Contracts”. The project launched through a public token sale in May 2017, raising one of the largest ICO totals in the Asian market that year, and went on to build out its mainnet infrastructure over the following 18 months. BOScoin positioned itself as a more sustainable alternative to Proof-of-Work blockchains by emphasising energy efficiency, low-latency settlement, and a governance model that gave token holders structured influence over protocol upgrades and treasury spending.
At the protocol layer, BOScoin used a Modified Federated Byzantine Agreement (mFBA) consensus algorithm, derived from the Stellar Consensus Protocol family. A Congress Voting layer and Proof-of-Stake elements were added on top so that long-term BOS holders could vote on network parameters, freezing rewards, and ecosystem proposals. The chain also supported smart contracts through OwlChain, a Web Ontology Language-based framework designed to make on-chain agreements formally verifiable and easier to audit. Total supply of BOS was capped at roughly 865.8 million tokens, and after the mainnet launch in late 2018 the full supply entered circulation across the BOScoin network.
After several years of gradually declining activity, BOScoin’s core infrastructure went fully offline on 15 November 2024. The official websites at boscoin.io and boschain.org are no longer reachable, the team’s social channels have stopped publishing, and BOS has effectively ceased to trade on any active spot market. This page preserves historical reference data such as supply, ticker, and project context for users researching the BOS token. Anyone holding legacy BOS should treat it as a discontinued asset and avoid sending funds to old wallet, contract, or exchange addresses associated with the original BOScoin network.
