Fuel Network (FUEL) is a modular blockchain project that aims to revolutionize the traditional monolithic design of blockchains. Unlike traditional blockchains, Fuel separates the execution layer from consensus, data availability, and settlement layers, allowing for increased bandwidth capacity and specialization at the base layer. The technology stack of Fuel Network is built upon three central pillars. Firstly, it utilizes parallel transaction execution, enabling transactions in parallel by using strict state access lists as a UTXO model. This allows Fuel to use more threads and cores of the CPU, resulting in increased compute power and transactional throughput. Secondly, Fuel incorporates a Fuel Virtual Machine (FuelVM) that minimizes wasteful processing of traditional blockchain virtual machine architectures while expanding the design space for developers. Lastly, Fuel Network provides a powerful and developer-friendly environment with its domain-specific language called Sway and a supportive toolchain called Forc, combining the benefits of smart contract languages with the Rust tooling ecosystem.
