LitecoinII (LC2)

LitecoinII (LC2) is a community-launched Proof-of-Work cryptocurrency that forked the Litecoin v0.21.4 codebase and started its own blockchain from block 1 on March 12, 2026. The project is not positioned as a competitor to Litecoin but as a way for new participants to experience an early-stage Scrypt-based mining network with the same technical foundations that supported Litecoin’s launch in 2011. Genesis block, network identifiers, and chain parameters were changed to ensure the new chain operates fully independently from the original Litecoin network and cannot be replayed or merged into it.

LC2 inherits Litecoin’s core design: a Scrypt Proof-of-Work consensus, a maximum supply of 84,000,000 LC2, a starting block reward of 50 LC2, and a halving interval of every 840,000 blocks. Mining is permissionless and supported by community pools tracked through public pool statistics services. Because the chain began at block 1 in March 2026, the circulating supply is being emitted by miners over time rather than premined or pre-distributed. Reference clients for Windows, macOS, and Linux are published as official binaries through the project’s GitHub organization at github.com/litecoinII-project, alongside several Bluewallet-based mobile and web wallet builds.

LitecoinII maintains an active website at litecoinii.org, an open-source repository, multiple block explorers including the official mempool.litecoinII.org, and listings on small spot exchanges such as NestEX, Rabid-Rabbit, Cexius, and Gleec’s DEX. Community channels are maintained on X (Twitter), Telegram, and Discord, and the project tracks ongoing Litecoin Core releases, with the stated intent to adopt compatible upgrades over time. As a recently launched, low-cap PoW chain, LC2 carries the standard risks for early-stage forks: a small holder and miner base, limited secondary-market liquidity, and dependence on continued community development now that the codebase has diverged from Litecoin’s mainline.
