Tether Gold (XAUT)

Tether Gold (XAUT) is a digital token that represents direct ownership of physical gold, issued by TG Commodities Limited, a subsidiary of Tether. Each XAUT is backed 1:1 by one fine troy ounce of LBMA-certified London Good Delivery gold, held in a Swiss vault and traceable to a specific serial-numbered bar. The token runs on both the Ethereum (ERC-20) and TRON (TRC-20) networks, letting holders transfer gold exposure globally with the speed of a blockchain transaction rather than moving physical bullion.

Holders can redeem XAUT for physical gold delivered to an address in Switzerland, subject to a minimum redemption amount and a one-time fee charged at purchase or redemption, with no ongoing custody fees. Tokenization also makes the underlying gold divisible down to one-millionth of an ounce, well beyond what physical bar trading allows. Tether publishes gold bar allocation lookups and periodic attestations to support verification of the reserves backing circulating XAUT.
