What is AMON?
AMON (also marketed as AmonPay) was a cryptocurrency wallet and Visa debit card product developed by Amon Tech, an Austrian fintech company founded by a team positioning itself toward younger, crypto-native users. The product allowed holders to keep crypto and spend it at any Visa-accepting point of sale, with automatic conversion happening at the moment of purchase, so merchants received fiat while the user paid from their crypto balance.
At the core of the AMON ecosystem was the AMN utility token, launched through an initial coin offering in 2018. Holding AMN was intended to unlock higher interest rates, reduced conversion fees, and access to premium card tiers within the platform. The wallet supported Bitcoin, Ethereum, and a selection of ERC-20 tokens, with conversion handled at point of sale to minimize exposure to exchange-rate risk during the transaction.
AMON offered an interest-earning feature through a third-party partnership, marketing annual yields on popular cryptocurrencies and stablecoins as a passive income component alongside the spending card. The platform cited FCA-regulated custodial partners and BitGo as security infrastructure for held assets.
The amon.tech domain and associated product are no longer accessible. The wallet is considered defunct, and the Visa debit card program is not operational. Users who held AMN tokens or kept balances on the platform should treat the service as closed.
