What is Bitfia?

Bitfia was a Singapore-based fintech company founded in 2017 that developed the PINT Wallet, a non-custodial cryptocurrency wallet with an integrated peer-to-peer trading marketplace. Incubated at Singapore Management University’s Institute of Innovation and Entrepreneurship in 2018, the company built the wallet around a “bank in your hand” concept aimed at making decentralized finance accessible to everyday users. The PINT Wallet accumulated over 50,000 Android downloads and served users across more than 40 countries before its servers were shut down on June 30, 2023.

The wallet operated as a fully non-custodial product, meaning users retained sole control of their private keys at all times. Bitfia stored no personal information on its servers and did not require KYC verification for core wallet functions such as receiving, sending, and swapping cryptocurrencies. Transactions were protected with AES256 encryption, and the platform used on-chain escrow to secure peer-to-peer trades. An encrypted in-trade messaging system allowed counterparties to communicate without leaving the platform.

Supported assets included Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Ethereum (ETH), Litecoin (LTC), Dogecoin (DOGE), Dash (DASH), and Stellar (XLM), along with a range of ERC-20 tokens. The wallet supported SegWit addresses for Bitcoin transactions and offered in-wallet asset swapping. A P2P marketplace, launched in 2019, allowed users to buy and sell crypto directly against fiat currency using the same escrow and reputation infrastructure.

Bitfia cited unspecified external and internal circumstances when announcing the June 2023 shutdown of the PINT Wallet service. Following the discontinuation, the company pivoted fully to enterprise payment infrastructure under the Bitfia Labs brand, focusing on B2B cross-border settlement products. The consumer wallet product is no longer available.
