What is NEO Tracker?
NEO Tracker was an independent, community-built blockchain explorer and web wallet for the NEO Smart Economy network. Launched in August 2017, it combined a full block explorer, transaction history viewer, and a browser-based wallet into a single interface at neotracker.io, making it one of the earliest dedicated tools for NEO users who wanted to manage assets without installing desktop software.
The wallet operated on a non-custodial model. Private keys were handled locally in the browser, and the project also released a downloadable version that users could run entirely on their own machine, without any dependency on the neotracker.io servers. This design gave users direct control over their keys and funds.
Supported assets were limited to the NEO blockchain. Users could hold and transfer NEO and GAS, claim the GAS generated passively by holding NEO, and manage NEP-5 tokens issued on the NEO network. The wallet also displayed Ontology (ONT) token balances for users who held ONT at a NEO address during the Ontology airdrop period. The GitHub organization additionally maintained a fork of the Ledger hardware wallet app for NEO, suggesting the project explored hardware signing support.
Development activity on the wallet repository effectively ended in 2017, with open GitHub issues left unresolved. The neotracker.io website is no longer accessible, and the project is considered discontinued. No official announcement of closure was found in available sources.
