About BetDice
BetDice was a decentralized gaming application built on the EOS blockchain, launching in late 2018 during the early peak of EOS dApp adoption. The platform offered provably fair dice games in which players wagered EOS tokens, with each outcome verifiable on-chain through a hash-based randomness mechanism that prevented manipulation by either the house or the player. At its height, BetDice ranked among the most actively used decentralized applications on EOS, regularly appearing in top dApp rankings by daily transaction volume and active user count. The platform is identified by the token contract betdicetoken on the EOS blockchain. The project initially operated under the domain BetDice.one before rebranding and migrating to Dice.one. Its native DICE token gave holders a direct economic stake in the platform’s daily revenue, a feature that distinguished it from most EOS gaming tokens of the era.
The DICE token was built around a dual reward model designed to incentivize long-term holding and staking. Token holders received 50% of the platform’s daily gross profits, distributed proportionally to staked balances. In addition, the protocol continuously emitted 0.01% of the circulating supply per day to stakers, providing a baseline yield independent of gambling volume. The total supply was capped at 8.8 billion DICE, all of which was effectively in circulation. This combination of profit-sharing dividends and token emissions was among the more sophisticated incentive designs seen in early EOS-based dApps and attracted significant early capital during the EOS dApp boom.
BetDice emerged during the brief but intense period when EOS briefly rivaled Ethereum in daily transaction count, fueled primarily by gaming and gambling dApps. The platform competed directly with EOSBet, DEOS Games, and several other provably fair casinos deployed on EOS. As the broader market shifted attention toward Ethereum-based DeFi protocols from 2020 onwards, EOS dApp activity declined sharply, and BetDice lost the user base necessary to sustain its dividend model. Both the original BetDice.one domain and its successor Dice.one are now offline. The project has been abandoned with no evidence of further development or community activity. The DICE token contract remains queryable on the EOS blockchain via the token identifier betdicetoken.
