About Cudos
What is CUDOS?
CUDOS is a decentralized compute network that provides multiple blockchain ecosystems with the following benefits:
- Trusted layer 2 validator network built on the Tendermint protocol
- EVM and Wasm compatibility, allowing smart contracts to be deployed on CUDOS using Solidity or next-generation languages like Golang, Rust, Java, etc., compiled to WebAssembly
- Cross-chain or horizontal interoperability through the network’s Inter-Blockchain Communication (IBC) integration, enabling Cudos Network smart contracts to run on multiple networks
- 10x lower transaction and gas costs compared to PoW networks
- A massively scalable network for more sophisticated smart contract operations
- Higher performance with 200 to 500 Peak TPS
- Access to a globally distributed layer 3 network of secure cloud and compute resources
- Turing-complete solutions for non-Turing complete Layer 1 blockchain networks
With the underlying Cudo platform live in over 145 countries, across enterprise and edge environments, and used by over 250,000 users, CUDOS is the next major release, providing a decentralized computing layer bridging on-chain and off-chain resources.
The CUDOS token serves the following purposes: network governance and operations, a staking mechanism for receiving blockchain and cloud workloads, and as a medium of exchange (MoE).
What is CUDOS trying to solve?
Blockchain scaling is expensive and limited in the types of use cases it can support. CUDOS addresses this by offering highly scalable layer 2 and 3 solutions, connecting on-chain and off-chain consumers through smart contracts and APIs.
Who are the founders of CUDOS?
CUDOS was founded by Mathew Hawkins, an award-winning entrepreneur who previously founded C4L, a data center, cloud, and network infrastructure provider that supported 1% of the UK’s internet infrastructure. After exiting in 2016 for $30 million, Mathew started Cudo and the CUDOS network to build infrastructure services in software, as he had previously done in hardware.
The executive team includes:
- CRO Andrew Walker, founder of Clicktools (acquired by SurveyMonkey)
- CTO Andrew Sturmey, a core member of C4L with over 20 years of experience in scaling cloud platforms and networks
- COO Lee Woodham, with over 25 years of experience in scaling financial services and tech companies
The board of advisors includes David Juxon (former MD of Bank of America), Chris Deering (Former President of Sony Entertainment/PlayStation), Joerg Roskowetz (Director of Blockchain for AMD), and Maggie Fang (early investor in Uber and Alibaba).
What makes CUDOS unique?
CUDOS is the first decentralized computing network to serve on-chain and off-chain infrastructure consumers. Built on the Cosmos blockchain and utilizing the Tendermint protocol for network governance, the CUDOS validator network distributes intensive workloads to the underlying layer 3 Cudo platform.
How is the CUDOS network secured?
The CUDOS network uses the Byzantine Fault Tolerant Bonded Proof of Stake mechanism, known as Tendermint Core, featured in the Cosmos SDK. Validators stake CUDOS to earn fees by validating transactions securely. The network uses Cosmos SDK’s staking, slashing, and governance modules to incentivize 95% uptime and eliminate bad actors.
Who are the major partners of CUDOS?
CUDOS is partnered with recognized blockchain and enterprise computing brands, including AMD, Ultra, and Algorand. Strategic backers include Outlier Ventures, Moonwhale, Moonrock, Brilliance Ventures, GBV, Spincrypto, Double Peak, Coinvision, and BMW Capital.
How many CUDOS coins are in circulation?
The total supply of CUDOS tokens is 10 billion, released over 10 years (starting from January 11, 2021). There is a circulating supply of 275 million at the time of writing. The total supply is allocated as follows:
- 34% Ecosystem & Community Development
- 33.78% Reserve
- 20% Team (2% released per milestone, with 10 pre-determined milestones)
- 5% Advisors
- 7.22% Presale Token Holders
Funds will be used for research and product development (30%), administration and operations (10%), marketing (20%), CUDOS Validator Nodes (CVN) (10%), user acquisition (13%), community engagement (10%), and contingency (7%).
Where can you buy CUDOS?
At the time of writing, the top exchanges for CUDOS trading are BitMax, KuCoin, Gate.io, Uniswap, and Poloniex.
