Ethena Staked USDe (SUSDE)

Ethena Staked USDe (SUSDE) is the yield-bearing, staked form of USDe, the synthetic dollar stablecoin issued by Ethena Labs on Ethereum. Depositing USDe into the Ethena protocol mints sUSDe, an ERC-4626 vault token that is redeemable back to USDe on a 1:1 basis after a cooldown period; rather than paying out separate rewards, sUSDe accrues value directly into its own exchange rate against USDe over time.

The yield paid to sUSDe holders is generated by USDe’s underlying delta-neutral strategy: the stablecoin is collateralized by staked ETH and other crypto assets while Ethena holds matched short positions in perpetual futures markets, capturing staking rewards and funding-rate payments as the return stream, with an increasing share of reserves also allocated to tokenized real-world assets such as short-term Treasuries. Because it inherits USDe’s peg and backing but adds this staking layer, sUSDe functions as a derivative of USDe rather than an independent stablecoin, and its value depends on the continued performance of Ethena’s hedging and collateral management.
