Ondo Finance (ONDO)

Ondo Finance is a decentralized finance protocol on Ethereum focused on tokenizing real-world assets (RWAs), primarily fixed-income products such as US Treasury bills and money market instruments. The project was established in 2022 through the Ondo Foundation, a nonprofit Cayman Islands foundation company that assists in governing the Ondo DAO. By bringing institutional-grade financial products on-chain, Ondo Finance enables blockchain-based access to yield-bearing instruments that have traditionally been limited to institutional investors. The protocol has received backing from prominent investors, including Coinbase Ventures and Pantera Capital.

The core product lineup includes OUSG (Ondo Short-Term US Government Bond Fund), a tokenized fund providing on-chain exposure to short-duration US Treasury securities, and USDY (Ondo US Dollar Yield), a tokenized note backed by US Treasuries and bank deposits that offers a yield-bearing alternative to stablecoins. Ondo Finance also developed Flux Finance, a lending protocol that accepts tokenized securities as collateral, enabling users to borrow stablecoins against on-chain treasury holdings. The protocol’s approach of bridging traditional finance with DeFi infrastructure places it within the broader RWA tokenization sector, which has attracted significant institutional interest as a mechanism for bringing regulated, off-chain yield products to blockchain environments.

The ONDO governance token is an ERC-20 token with a total and maximum supply of 10 billion tokens. Approximately 4.87 billion ONDO are currently in circulation, with the remainder subject to vesting schedules for team members, investors, and ecosystem allocations. ONDO token holders participate in governance decisions through the Ondo DAO, which oversees protocol development and parameter changes.
