Orchid Protocol (OXT)

Orchid Protocol (OXT) is a decentralized platform that aims to enable an onion routing network incentivized by their native digital asset, OXT, and a multi-hop VPN client. Orchid is committed to privacy and believes that privacy is a fundamental human right. The platform seeks to empower individuals by providing them privacy and freedom in internet use. Orchid stands in solidarity with movements dedicated to privacy, freedom, and equality and strives to create tools that level the playing field for all.

The Orchid protocol incorporates a tunneling protocol that works alongside nanopayments to provide payments at networking speeds. It runs on top of WebRTC for firewall traversal. Providers on Orchid run the Orchid server, where they accept connection requests and provide services in exchange for immediate payment through the nanopayment system. The platform also features Orchid Accounts, which hold funds sent through Orchid’s scaling nanopayment system and allow users to manage their accounts on the blockchain within the Orchid DApp. Orchid uses off-chain probabilistic payments for high-frequency, trustless interactions, enabling a highly liquid marketplace for buying and selling bandwidth.

OXT is Orchid’s native ERC-20 digital asset, which providers stake in an Ethereum smart contract to advertise their services to clients. The stake is proportional and determines the probability of being selected by clients. Users benefit from a provably randomized server selection from a pool of providers, while providers can advertise their services through OXT stake. Orchid VPN is an advanced VPN client built on the Orchid platform, offering protection from snooping ISPs, unblocking websites blocked by firewalls, and other privacy benefits. The client also facilitates real-time payments to bandwidth sellers and allows buyers to use cryptocurrency accounts to purchase bandwidth through Orchid’s nanopayment system.
