Pudgy Penguins (PENGU)

Pudgy Penguins (PENGU) is the native token of Pudgy Penguins, a Web3 brand that began in July 2021 as a collection of 8,888 penguin-themed profile picture NFTs on Ethereum. After a rocky early period, entrepreneur Luca Netz acquired the project in 2022 and rebuilt it into a broader consumer franchise spanning digital collectibles, physical toys and trading cards sold in major retailers, and interactive games. PENGU was launched in December 2024 on Solana, distributed through a large-scale airdrop to more than a million wallets, and now also circulates on Ethereum, BNB Smart Chain, Abstract, and HyperEVM.

Within the ecosystem, PENGU functions as the connective token linking the brand’s NFT holders, merchandise, and gaming products, acting as a social currency for the community known as “The Huddle” and as the token used inside Pudgy World, a browser-based social metaverse. It also supports related titles such as Pengu Clash, a competitive game built on The Open Network. Total supply is capped at 88.889 billion PENGU, with roughly 79.48 billion issued and the remainder subject to lock-up schedules.

PENGU is described by the project as serving entertainment, community, and access purposes rather than conferring equity or revenue rights, and its value has tracked the broader visibility of the Pudgy Penguins brand across NFT, retail, and gaming channels since launch.
