Wrapped TRX (WTRX)

Wrapped TRX (WTRX) is a TRC-20 version of TRON’s native coin, TRX, issued on the TRON blockchain itself rather than on a separate chain. Because TRX is a native coin and not a token, it cannot natively interact with TRC-20-only smart contracts; WTRX solves this by locking native TRX in a wrapping contract and minting an equivalent amount of WTRX at a fixed 1:1 ratio, with the reverse process burning WTRX to release the original TRX. This makes TRX usable wherever a standard token interface is required.

WTRX is most widely used within the JustLend money market, part of the JUST DeFi ecosystem on TRON, where a TRXProvider contract automatically wraps deposited TRX into WTRX so it can serve as loan collateral, and unwraps it again on withdrawal. It also trades on TRON-based decentralized exchanges such as SunSwap, giving TRX liquidity and price parity with the underlying coin across TRC-20 pools without requiring any changes to those protocols’ smart contracts.
