What is iToken?

iToken Wallet was a multi-chain, non-custodial mobile wallet developed by Huobi Group and launched around 2018 as the flagship self-custody product for the Huobi exchange ecosystem. The application was available for iOS and Android and supported Bitcoin, Ethereum, EOS, Tron, and Tether, alongside ERC-20, HRC-20, and selected assets on other chains. Private keys were stored on the user’s device and never transmitted to Huobi’s servers, distinguishing it from the hosted balances held on the Huobi exchange itself.

The wallet’s interface organized assets on a single home screen with quick transfer and payment shortcuts. Users could add any supported coin or ERC-20 token from a built-in search and rename or hide individual wallet entries for organizational purposes. Recovery relied on a standard BIP-39 mnemonic seed phrase generated at setup. iToken also included a built-in coin converter for cross-asset swaps and used a custom keyboard layout to reduce the risk of clipboard interception during seed-phrase entry. The application was localized into English and Chinese as its primary languages.

As Huobi Group underwent a series of strategic shifts, iToken was first rebranded as Huobi Wallet and later, following the company’s rename to HTX in late 2023, repositioned under the HTX Wallet brand. The separate iToken development track was wound down during this transition. The itoken.com domain stopped responding by April 2025, and the iOS and Android applications were removed from their respective stores in most regions. The HTX ecosystem continued through the HTX exchange and a successor Web3 wallet product, which is a distinct application with a different codebase and feature set.
