What is OraSaifu?

OraSaifu was a hardware cryptocurrency wallet developed by Ora Inc., a company founded in 2013 and headquartered in Japan, with additional offices in Beijing, New York, and Hong Kong. The product launched globally in July 2018 following a crowdfunding campaign on Indiegogo. The R&D team included alumni from Microsoft, IBM, Oracle, Nokia, and Huawei.

OraSaifu was designed as an all-in-one card-sized device combining cryptocurrency cold storage with everyday payment functions. It featured a 4-inch bezel-less touchscreen and could store crypto private keys alongside credit cards, membership cards, boarding passes, and gift cards. The device charged via USB-C and offered up to seven days of battery life.

The wallet supported a broad set of cryptocurrencies at launch, including Bitcoin (BTC), Bitcoin Cash (BCH), Bitcoin Gold (BTG), Bitcoin Diamond (BCD), Litecoin (LTC), Ethereum (ETH), Ethereum Classic (ETC), ERC-20 tokens, EOS, Cardano (ADA), XRP, Stellar (XLM), IOTA, NEO, Monero (XMR), NEM, and QTUM.

Security was a central design focus. OraSaifu combined a Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) with Secure Element (SE) technology on a single chip. The USB port had no data transfer capability, keeping private keys fully isolated from connected computers. NFC and offline QR code reading allowed transactions without internet connectivity, and the device automatically wiped all data after five consecutive failed authentication attempts.

The project did not reach consumers as planned. In 2019, Ora Inc. announced the project would go into “hibernate” and stated it would refund backers. However, many crowdfunding backers reported that refunds were never received. The orasaifu.io website is no longer accessible, and the project has been inactive since 2019.
