Paraloom (PARALOOM)

Paraloom (PARALOOM) is a privacy-focused Layer 2 solution designed specifically for the Solana blockchain. With a unique approach, it enables fast validation processes of approximately ten milliseconds, allowing any laptop or basic computing hardware to participate in the network without the need for specialized silicon or GPUs. This opens the door to wider participation by users who can run validators, earning network fees while maintaining privacy through built-in features such as Groth16 proofs and BLS12-381 hashing. Notably, there is no allocation for founders, ensuring that all validator rewards are fairly distributed among those contributing to the network.

The infrastructure of Paraloom functions within the existing Solana ecosystem, providing seamless integration without the requirement for a new token or chain. Leveraging an Anchor program on Solana’s mainnet ensures that transactions achieve the same level of finality and security as Solana. The consensus mechanism uses a reputation-gated, slashable 7-of-10 Byzantine Fault Tolerance (BFT) system that aims to uphold network integrity while enabling fast operations. Moreover, its replay protection employs a one-slot expiry system, ensuring robustness in transaction handling.

Open development is a core principle of Paraloom, with source code and multi-platform binaries available under the MIT license. The project transparently organizes the MPC trusted setup ceremony, enabling participants to contribute to the robustness of the underlying cryptographic mechanisms. Comprehensive documentation and tools support developers in building on this privacy Layer 2 solution, including a command-line interface for wallet management and validation. As an open-source initiative, Paraloom encourages the exploration and contribution of new ideas, fostering a collaborative environment for those interested in advancing privacy technologies in the blockchain space.
