Staked Celo (STCELO)

Staked Celo (STCELO) is the liquid staking token of the stCELO protocol, built on the Celo blockchain. The protocol allows users to deposit CELO, Celo’s native currency, and receive STCELO tokens in return. Unlike traditional staking, which locks assets and requires manual reward collection, STCELO is a receipt token that automatically accrues value as the underlying CELO earns staking rewards. The exchange rate between STCELO and CELO increases over time as rewards compound, meaning holders earn yield simply by holding the token.

The stCELO protocol is developed and maintained by Celo ORG, the organization behind the Celo blockchain itself. Staking through the protocol contributes to Celo network security by delegating to elected validators, while users retain full liquidity. STCELO tokens can be used in DeFi protocols within the Celo ecosystem, enabling users to earn staking yield and additional DeFi returns simultaneously. Users can unstake at any time by converting STCELO back to CELO through the protocol interface at app.stcelo.xyz.

The total supply reflects the amount of CELO staked through the protocol and has no fixed maximum, expanding and contracting with user deposits and withdrawals.
