What is MyEtherWallet?
MyEtherWallet (MEW) is a free, open-source, non-custodial wallet launched in 2015, originally built to make interaction with the Ethereum blockchain accessible to everyday users. Users hold their own private keys at all times; MEW has no access to funds or account data. The project is headquartered in Los Angeles and continues to operate independently after a decade in the Ethereum ecosystem.
MEW offers three products. The web portfolio interface lets users manage assets, stake ETH, swap tokens, and interact with decentralized applications directly in a browser without installing software. The MEW Mobile app (iOS and Android) supports Ethereum, ERC-20 tokens, Polygon, zkSync Era, and BNB Smart Chain, with NFT management built in. The Enkrypt browser extension, developed by the MEW team, is a multichain wallet supporting over 70 networks, including:
- Ethereum, Bitcoin, Solana
- Polkadot and its parachains
- BNB Smart Chain, Optimism, Arbitrum, Base, SKALE
- Any custom EVM chain added via RPC
Enkrypt also provides access to tokenized stock trading through the MEW portfolio dashboard.
Supported networks (MEW Web):
- Ethereum and all ERC-20 tokens
- Ethereum Classic, Polygon, BNB Smart Chain, GoChain
- Custom tokens via contract address on any supported chain
All products integrate Ledger and Trezor hardware wallets. MEW collects no personally identifiable information and maintains a bug bounty program through HackenProof.
