What is Trezor One?

The Trezor One is a hardware wallet produced by SatoshiLabs, a Czech company founded in 2011. When the first Trezor One units shipped in 2013, it became the first commercially available hardware wallet, setting the standard for offline private key storage that the broader industry would follow. It stores private keys in an isolated environment and requires physical button confirmation for every transaction, so signing can never happen silently from a connected computer.

The device pairs with the Trezor Suite desktop and browser application, which handles portfolio management, sending and receiving, coin swaps, and basic staking for supported assets. The interface relies on two physical buttons and a 0.96-inch monochromatic OLED display. Setup and daily use are designed to be straightforward: the recovery seed is generated and displayed only on the device, never transmitted to a connected machine. The wallet is self-custodial, meaning SatoshiLabs has no access to user funds or keys.

The Trezor One supports over 1,000 coins and tokens natively, including:

  • Bitcoin
  • Ethereum
  • Litecoin
  • Bitcoin Cash
  • Dogecoin
  • Dash
  • XRP
  • Thousands of ERC-20 tokens on Ethereum and compatible networks

Solana and Cardano are not supported on this model; those assets require a newer Trezor device with a secure element chip. Monero is accessible via third-party wallet integrations rather than natively through Trezor Suite. The Trezor One is the entry-level option in the Trezor lineup, positioned alongside the Safe 3, Safe 5, and Safe 7 models that SatoshiLabs has introduced in subsequent years.
