What is Attestant?
Attestant is a London-based institutional Ethereum staking provider, founded in 2019 and registered in England and Wales (company number 12540798). The company operates a non-custodial staking service in which clients retain the withdrawal key to their ether at all times, while Attestant manages only the validator attestation key. This architecture means Attestant has no ability to move client funds, offering institutional-grade security by design.
Attestant serves a broad range of institutional clients including family offices, funds, high-net-worth individuals, traditional financial institutions, exchanges, custodians, protocol foundations, and decentralised finance protocols. Its infrastructure is built with multiple overlapping layers of software and hardware redundancy, drawing on the founding team’s experience building mission-critical systems in the banking industry. The company holds ISO 27001 certification for information security management, verified by UKAS.
In November 2024, Attestant was acquired by Bitwise Asset Management and subsequently rebranded as Bitwise Onchain Solutions, continuing to offer Ethereum staking services with a minimum stake threshold of $10 million. At the time of acquisition, Attestant had approximately $3.7 billion in staked assets under management. The core technology stack remains open source.
