CoinShares is a digital asset investment firm founded in 2013 and headquartered in Jersey, Channel Islands. The company offers exchange-traded products (ETPs), actively managed quantitative strategies, proprietary indices, and capital markets services to both institutional and retail investors. Its ETPs provide regulated, physically backed exposure to cryptocurrencies and trade on major European stock exchanges.
CoinShares is listed on Nasdaq Stockholm and is regulated by the Jersey Financial Services Commission. It operates licensed subsidiaries across the European Union, the United Kingdom (via FCA-regulated Strata Global Ltd.), and France (via an AMF-regulated asset management entity). Notable milestones include launching the first regulated bitcoin fund in 2014, acquiring ETP issuer XBT Provider in 2016, and acquiring US-based digital asset manager Valkyrie in 2024.
The firm’s product range includes staking ETPs for assets such as Ethereum, Solana, and Sei, with some products carrying a 0% management fee. CoinShares also provides capital markets technology and services and publishes research on digital asset markets.
