Corda

Corda is a permissioned, peer-to-peer distributed ledger technology (DLT) platform developed by R3, a New York-based enterprise blockchain software company. It is designed specifically for regulated industries, enabling organizations to build applications that manage digital assets, automate financial agreements through smart contracts, and share data only with the parties directly involved in each transaction.

R3 was founded in 2015 and launched Corda in 2016, initially developed in collaboration with a consortium of major banks and financial institutions. The platform targets financial services providers, capital markets participants, central banks, and global market infrastructure operators. Corda is available in two editions: a Community Edition offering open-source, production-ready code, and an Enterprise Edition with additional features suited for mission-critical regulated environments.

Unlike public blockchains, Corda processes each transaction individually in real time, sharing data only between the counterparties involved, which addresses privacy and compliance requirements common in regulated markets. R3 has also announced a strategic partnership with the Solana Foundation to support interoperability between private DLT networks and public blockchain infrastructure.
