What is Ledger?
Ledger is a French hardware wallet and digital asset security company, founded in 2014 and headquartered in Paris, France. The company designs and manufactures cold storage devices that allow individuals and institutions to store private keys offline, keeping cryptocurrency holdings isolated from internet-connected systems.
Ledger’s product line includes the Ledger Stax, Ledger Flex, and Ledger Nano series of hardware wallets, each running BOLOS, the company’s proprietary operating system built around a Secure Element chip. The companion Ledger Live application lets users buy, swap, and stake assets from over 15,000 supported cryptocurrencies across more than 90 blockchain networks. Ledger Enterprise extends the platform to banks, hedge funds, and institutional clients with customizable custody and multisig infrastructure.
Founded by a team of experts in cryptography and hardware engineering, Ledger has grown to more than 700 employees across offices in Paris, London, New York, and Singapore, and distributes its devices through more than 100 resellers in 180 countries.
