NOWPayments

NOWPayments is a non-custodial cryptocurrency payment gateway operated by NOWPayments LTD, a company incorporated in the Seychelles. Founded in 2019, the platform was developed as part of the NOW Group, the same organization behind the ChangeNOW exchange service. Its core mission is to make it straightforward for businesses of any size to accept cryptocurrency payments, supporting over 300 digital assets including Bitcoin, Ethereum, stablecoins, and a wide range of altcoins.

The gateway provides merchants with multiple integration options: a REST API with SDKs for JavaScript, Python, and PHP; e-commerce plugins for WooCommerce, Shopify, Magento, OpenCart, and PrestaShop; embeddable payment widgets; hosted invoices; and white-label wallet solutions. Fees are 0.5% for direct crypto-to-crypto payments and 1% for transactions requiring currency conversion. An auto coin conversion feature allows customers to pay in any supported cryptocurrency while merchants receive their preferred asset. The platform also supports crypto POS systems and multi-currency business wallets, making it relevant for iGaming, SaaS, fintech, and nonprofit sectors.

As a non-custodial service, NOWPayments does not hold merchant funds at any point — payments are settled directly to the merchant’s wallet. The platform complies with KYC and AML standards and all transactions are recorded on-chain. A sandbox environment is available for integration testing. In 2024, the platform added WalletConnect, TONConnect, and MetaMask support directly to invoices, and introduced automated payment processing tools. Merchant accounts include a dashboard for transaction tracking and real-time payment notifications.
