R3 is an enterprise blockchain software company headquartered in New York, United States, best known for developing Corda, a permissioned distributed ledger technology (DLT) platform built for regulated industries. Founded in 2014, R3 began as a consortium of major financial institutions and evolved into a product-focused technology firm serving banks, insurers, capital markets participants, and government bodies.

Corda is designed to enable direct, private digital transactions between parties without a central database, sharing transaction data only with the counterparties involved. This architecture is intended to meet the confidentiality, compliance, and interoperability requirements of regulated financial markets. R3 offers both an open-source version of Corda and Corda Enterprise, a commercial distribution for large-scale deployments.
